Meet Kavyun Parker

Hello, my name is Kavyun Parker. I’m a Political Science Major attending the University of California, Berkeley. I'm the 88th Youth Governor of California, having held office from 2023 to 2024. And above all else, I’m someone who believes in the power of people to create meaningful change. My journey in leadership has been shaped by a commitment to fairness, integrity, and building bridges where others see divides. Whether it’s through public service, policy advocacy, or simply listening to those around me, I’m dedicated to leaving the world better than I found it.

Since the age of seven I’ve been politically involved, though in those days of my life it was watching the Morning and Evening news with my grandparents and attending different protests to save the Climate and push for Justice Reform. I still do those things now, just far more often than a seven year old would. I joined the Young Democrats of America at the age of 14 and the California Young Democrats at the age of 16.

I’ve spoken publicly to the California American Legion, Lions Club of California City and through various other organizations. I led my high-school’s SkillsUSA Club for a year, and I was chosen to be the sole delegate for my VFW post in 2023 to California Boys and Girls State.

I live to work and my purpose in life is to to uplift others and contribute to a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Whether it's through shaping policies that bring tangible benefits to communities or inspiring others to engage in the political process, I am driven by the belief that collective action can lead to transformative progress.

Leadership, to me, is not about titles or accolades; it’s about listening, learning, and acting with intention. It’s about understanding the challenges people face and working tirelessly to address them. I aim to bring this philosophy into every aspect of my life—be it through my studies, my advocacy, or my service.

As I continue my journey, my mission remains clear: to build a future rooted in justice, equity, and opportunity for all. Every step I take is guided by the values instilled in me from a young age—values of perseverance, empathy, and an unwavering belief in the power of people.
